Inbound Insights 2025, Post #3

The big AI shift.

Everything at INBOUND this year was about AI. Even Amy Poehler and Colin Jost talked about it.

Here were my take-aways

  1. AI is a new skill that everyone will one day need; and “skilled worker”, or “true agent”, AI will change the world, whether you ride the wave or get left in the dust.
  2. Using AI doesn’t have a first mover/implementer advantage. The tech is advancing so quickly that what matters is speed of experimentation. How quick is your team to iterate, to start building Rev2 or 3 or 4? To try again and try new things to see if they work?
  3. The AI “revolution” will see software systems evolve in three, blurred stages:
    1. Useful tools
    2. Helpful agents
    3. Skilled workers

We already use useful AI tools in Excel and LLMs and other applications. Some of us are using “AI agents” which are designed to carry out very specific tasks. And we are very close—maybe 2-3 years out—from seeing skilled AI co-workers on our very own teams.

Buckle up!
