Inbound Insights 2025, Post #2

Giant hedge letters spelling INBOUND on a lawn beside a city street

Three full days of marketing training sessions, and I walked away with a whole ton of practical insights.

Second only to AI, the most talked-about, recurring theme of Inbound was unifying data. So many of us have access to an abundance of data; and yet, we have monumental trouble connecting the dots to generate meaningful insights across numerous, disparate data silos.

It’s pretty hard to analyze data if you can’t look at it all in one place. You can’t develop ICPs in informed ways, set and measure KPIs, or plan a budget.

What’s worse than siloed data? Unstructured and bad data within those silos!

Here are my unified data insights from INBOUND

  • The amount of data we have is only increasing
  • The best businesses prioritize customer data management from the very beginning; however
  • Every business can benefit from organizing its historic data and implementing a strategy to manage new data
  • If your company doesn’t have unified customer data, today is the day to start making that happen
  • Develop a 1-page, baby-step plan to begin to unify your data. Implement it in no more than six weeks. Then, write a new one. Look for ways to make meaningful changes quickly

The future of your company very well may hinge on the answer to this question (and one other that I’ll tease out in my next post):

How well will you prepare and structure your data in anticipation of widespread AI adoption?
